Just 25 minutes northeast of Downtown Atlanta lies Johns Creek. This relatively young city offers an enchanting and thriving community with an innovative artistic culture, state-of-the-art innovation, and highly touted schools. It originally began as a high-tech office park planned community but has grown to a lively suburb as more people moved to this area to work. Neighborhoods rich in shopping centers and amenities started developing, leading to the bustling suburb it is today. It has been named one of the best cities to live in by USA Today, thanks to its top-rated schools and family-friendly communities.
 
Johns Creek was founded in 1981 by three Georgia Tech graduates as a high-tech park and living community. It became an incorporated city in 2006. Since then, it has grown into a mecca of businesses and a desirable place to raise a family. It offers a large art center, several annual festivals, and a professional orchestra that draw locals and visitors into this place. It also provides several outdoor recreational activities, such as golf and tennis, to name a few.

As a relatively new city, Johns Creek has yet to establish a classic live/work/play development like other places. However, there are a couple of dining, entertainment, and shopping places you can visit that you can be assured will become some of your family favorites. 
 
For your dining expedition, don't miss out on some local flair at Sugo, or indulge in a fabulous brunch at Hen Mother Cookhouse, this is a must try spot in the area. Craving a steak, you must give Pampas Steakhouse a try, you will not be disappointed. 
 
For your entertainment, there are lots of festival events that fill your calendar. If you want to experience local tradition, movies at the park and summer concerts should come on top of your list. For an all-out celebration, the Fall Family Festival is your festival of choice. It features a variety of games, kid costume competitions, and art and craft.
 
Engage in shopping therapy from one of the shopping destinations in Johns Creek. Visit Johns Creek Walk, a small shopping center with a few local boutiques and specialty stores to explore.
 
Enjoy many activities, including attending one of the professional symphony orchestras at the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta's only part-time fully professional symphony orchestra's. Likewise, you can nurture your child's art skills through the camps and classes offered at the Johns Creek Arts Center. If you love golfing, there are six golf facilities to choose from. There are also several local parks with areas for picnics and miles of hiking trails, such as Newton Park, Autrey Mill Nature Preserve and Heritage Center, Ocee Park, and Shakerag Park.
